Every Disney Wish New York Sailing, and the Iceland Crossing That Gets It There

DISNEY CRUISE LINE announced this morning that the Disney Wish will sail seven cruises from New York in fall 2027. Bookings open August 31 for select Castaway Club members and September 8 for everyone else.

That gives you about a week to decide what you want.

I have been sailing with Disney Cruise Line since 2004, ten-plus sailings, Platinum Castaway Club, and I have sailed the Wish. Below is every sailing in the announcement, the crossing that brings the ship over, and the one I would look at first.

Six of the seven carry Halloween on the High Seas branding. The Canada and New England itineraries land in mid-to-late October, which puts them in Atlantic Canada during foliage season.

The range runs four to seven nights. If you are weighing the short end against the long end, I broke that down in 4-night vs 7-night Disney cruises.

The October 31 sailing ends in San Juan rather than returning to New York, which is how the ship gets to the Caribbean for the winter.

Boston, Saint John, Charlottetown, and Sydney do not appear anywhere else on the current Disney Cruise Line schedule.

Before any of the New York sailings, the ship has to get there.

Summer 2027 is the Disney Wish's first European season. It repositions to Barcelona in April, works the Mediterranean, then moves up to Southampton in July for Northern Europe. The transatlantic is how it comes home.

On September 17, 2027, the Wish leaves Southampton on a 12-night westbound crossing and arrives in New York on September 29, the same morning the first Bermuda sailing departs. The route runs Greenock, the port for Glasgow and Edinburgh, then two days in Reykjavik, then St. John's, Newfoundland.

Disney Cruise Line has called at Iceland before. The Disney Magic ran Reykjavik on its Norway and Iceland itineraries, including an overnight there in 2022. This is the only Iceland call anywhere on the current schedule.

That is the sailing I would look at first, and the sea days are part of why. They are not filler. The best part of travel, for me, is the luxury of doing nothing somewhere beautiful, and a North Atlantic crossing is about as close to that as Disney Cruise Line currently sells.

Set it against the four-night Bermuda run, which is two days at King's Wharf and two days getting there and back. Both are good trips. They are not the same kind of trip, and only one of them is hard to repeat.

Transatlantic crossings usually price lower per night than a short cruise, so the gap itself is not the story. The trade is normally a one-way ticket and a port list built around the route rather than around the destinations.

This one prices like a crossing and reads like a destination itinerary. A verandah works out to roughly $536 a night against about $937 on the four-night Bermuda sailing, which is close to the spread you would expect. What is not typical is getting Scotland, two days in Iceland, and Newfoundland along with it.

If a transatlantic is not what you are after, the October 24 seven-night Canada sailing is the one I would look at among the New York round trips. Three ports, two of which appear nowhere else on the current schedule, and seven nights to absorb them.

The Disney Wish going to Europe for the first time drew more interest than I expected. Watching those sailings go on sale earlier this year changed how I read an announcement like this one.

What I took from it: when a Wish-class ship turns up somewhere it has not been, demand follows the ship, not only the itinerary.

Now a Wish-class ship is working Atlantic Canada in October and calling at Reykjavik on the way over. That combination did not exist anywhere in the fleet a year ago.

I have sailed the Wish. It is a popular ship. Based on what I watched happen with the Europe season, I would expect these to firm up rather than soften, and I would not plan on a better number closer in.

The larger signal is where the class is going. The Wish is the first of four Wish-class ships, with the Disney Believe arriving in late 2027. The Wish itself is still a young ship. Seeing it move from Florida to Europe to New York suggests Disney Cruise Line is willing to send this class well outside its home waters. I do not think this is the last time we see it.

The October 24 seven-night Canada itinerary and the transatlantic have no equivalent anywhere on the current schedule, so there is no second option if they fill. Those are the two I would be logged in and ready for at 8:00 a.m. on whichever day is yours.
