One of the best things about Disney Cruise Line is how much is already handled once you're onboard. Meals, entertainment, kids clubs, pools… your fare covers more than most people expect.

But there's a second layer to every cruise budget: the extras you choose. Internet, adult dining, Port Adventures, nursery time, and the smaller onboard purchases that can add up if you're not thinking about them ahead of time.
I've sailed Disney Cruise Line more than ten times. I'm a Castaway Club Platinum member, and this is one of the most common planning conversations I have with travelers. Not because the extras are unreasonable, but because knowing what to expect changes how confidently you book.
That's what this calculator is for.
To give you a sense of scale: a couple keeping it simple on a 7-night sailing might add $500–$900 in extras. A family of four booking excursions, specialty dining, and internet could be looking at $2,000–$3,000+.
This calculator helps you find where your trip falls, based on your own preferences.
Enter your cruise details, then select the extras that match your travel style. You'll get a Low / Typical / High spending range for onboard costs, plus an all-in range that includes your fare.
This isn't a quote or even an exact stat. It's a planning range, built to help you answer the question most people ask before they book: "What should we realistically expect to spend beyond the fare?"
And it’s a planning range because you’ll be on vacation, after all! You should be able to find the spontaneous moments that create memories, without the regret. This range helps you plan.

I share planning tactics that make trips smoother: what’s worth booking, what’s not, and the common mistakes I see travelers make on cruises and beyond.
Disney Cruise Line includes more in the base fare than many travelers realize: your stateroom, rotational dining and most quick-service meals, entertainment, pools, and kids clubs (ages 3+).
This page stays focused on budgeting the other items.
A few categories in this calculator use published Disney pricing. Others are ranges, because your itinerary and preferences are what drive the number. Some items are dependent on your ship and sailing, too.
We work to keep these updated so you have an accurate picture, but if you see an error, please email me.
Gratuities are charged to your onboard account automatically. Disney's current recommended amounts are $16 per person, per night for standard staterooms and $27.25 per person, per night for Concierge staterooms and suites.
This applies to all guests, including children and infants. You can prepay before your sailing or settle onboard. Either way, this is a must-budget item.
I have a deep dive guide here:
Gratuity rates were last updated in January 2025 and are subject to change.
Disney Cruise Line internet is priced per device, per day and is purchased onboard through the Navigator app. Current daily rates:
Standard Internet: $30 per device, per day
Internet + Streaming: $49 per device, per day
If you purchase internet for the full voyage, Disney applies roughly a 20% discount, bringing the effective daily rate closer to $24 (Standard) and $39 (Streaming). This calculator uses the voyage-discounted rates, since most travelers who buy internet buy it for the full sailing.
It’s worth noting that this is per simultaneous device connection. In other words, if you purchase a one-device plan, you can log out of internet on your phone, and then connect to the same one-device plan on your laptop.

Disney's adult-exclusive restaurants (Palo, Palo Steakhouse, Remy, and Enchanté) are a paid add-on. Some offer prix fixe menus, others are à la carte (or both). It depends on the restaurant and the meal. Either way, an extra fee will apply regardless of what you order. Current prix fixe pricing:
Palo / Palo Steakhouse (all ships): $55 per person for dinner or brunch
Remy (Dream and Fantasy): $145 per person for dinner
Enchanté (Wish, Treasure, Destiny): $145 per person for lunch or dinner
An 18% service charge is added automatically, and many guests choose to tip beyond that.
If you select adult dining in the calculator, the "Palo" option models one Palo-level meal per person, and "Splurge" models one Remy/Enchanté-level meal. The calculator range shows you what you might spend on the á la carte or prix fixe range. The estimate charges all adults in your party; if only some of you are booking, your actual cost will be lower.
It's possible to book more than one meal: say, Palo dinner and Palo brunch. Though availability can make that difficult on many sailings. If you do, your cost will be higher than what the calculator shows.
Another thing to keep in mind: this estimate doesn't include alcohol. These restaurants carry some of the more upscale wine selections onboard, so if that's part of the experience for you, factor it into the drinks section below.

The "it's a small world" nursery (ages 6 months–3 years) is available on all ships for an hourly fee: $10 per hour for the first child, with a small discount for additional siblings. Reservations are required and space is limited. Your Castaway Club level determines how early you can book: Concierge and Platinum members open at 120 days, Gold at 105, and Silver at 90. If this is your first sailing, you'll book at the Silver window, so plan early, especially if you want nursery time on adult dining nights or spa visits.
Your Castaway Club level determines how early you can book. You can use my to determine that date for your sailing.

Travel insurance is estimated as a percentage of your cruise fare, and the cost depends on the level of coverage you choose.
A basic policy could run around 4–6% of your fare.
A more midrange policy could land in the 7–10% range.
Comprehensive coverage, especially policies that include higher medical limits or cover special conditions, can run 10–15% or more.
The calculator models three tiers (Basic, Typical, and Robust) based on these ranges. Your actual cost will depend on your provider, your age, and what's covered, so treat this as a planning estimate rather than a quote. Just like with cars, insurance prices can vary significantly.
Senses Spa & Salon is available on all ships for guests 18 and older. Pricing varies by treatment, ship, and sailing length. Disney doesn't publish a fixed price list, so costs can shift between sailings. An 18% service charge is added automatically to all spa services.
On the lower end, think a manicure or a Rainforest Room day pass. On the higher end, a longer massage, a voyage-length Rainforest pass, or a couples spa villa experience. The Rainforest Room itself (a thermal suite with heated loungers, steam rooms, and hydrotherapy showers) varies quite a bit in size, layout, amenities and pricing depending on your ship, so it's worth looking into what's available on yours before you book.
If you select "Some" in the calculator, you're modeling something like a single treatment or a Rainforest day pass. "A Lot" covers a longer massage, a voyage-length Rainforest pass, or multiple services during the sailing.
These are the categories that vary most by itinerary and personal style. Rather than pretend there's one right number, the calculator uses Low / Typical / High ranges so you can plan with a buffer and choose what fits your priorities.
Your Disney Cruise Line booking summary and onboard account are the source of truth for exact charges. This tool is built for planning, so you can book knowing you've already thought through the major pieces.
Think of your Typical number as a realistic baseline for the trip you've described.
You've already told the calculator what matters to you. The Low, Typical, and High numbers show the range within those choices, not different versions of the trip. If your Low and Typical are close, most of what you selected has predictable pricing.
A wider spread means some of your picks, like excursions or drinks, have more variability depending on what you book and how the trip plays out.
If you want to be conservative, budget closer to your Typical number. If you like having a cushion, use the High.
Either way, the point is the same: you should feel good about booking because you already understand what the onboard piece looks like, not because you're trying to minimize it.
Depending on your sailing and travel style, a few other items can add to your onboard total:
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (kids)
Beverage tastings and seminars
Laundry or pressing services on longer sailings
Terminal porters and tour guide tips
Special activities like bingo
Add-on snacks like popcorn, specialty gelato or desserts, packaged candy or some lounge menu items
Select non-alcoholic drinks like bottled water, specialty juices or smoothies, or kombucha
Additional room service gratuities
Cabanas and gear rentals at Castaway Cay or Lookout Cay
This isn’t meant to be a complete list, but it is meant to help you plan for what are commonly the biggest spend areas for each family or group.
Send me your ship, sail date, and stateroom category. I'll review your numbers and tell you which add-ons tend to be the best use of money on that specific itinerary… and which ones you can probably skip.
Plan a Disney Cruise With MeYour all-in cost is your cruise fare plus gratuities, Port Adventures, internet, adult dining, nursery time, drinks, and other add-ons.

No. Disney recommends $16 per person per night for standard staterooms and $27.25 for Concierge. Gratuities are charged automatically to your onboard account unless you prepay before sailing. Either way, budget for them as part of your trip cost.
It depends on your ports, your group, and what kind of experiences you want. This calculator lets you choose how many port days you plan to book excursions and whether your style is "a couple of highlights" or "something at every stop."
As of early 2026, Standard Internet is $30 per device per day and Internet + Streaming is $49 per device per day. Full-voyage purchases get roughly a 20% discount. Wi-Fi is purchased onboard through the Navigator app and is priced per device — there are no multi-device discounts.
Current prix fixe pricing: Palo and Palo Steakhouse are $55 per person for dinner or brunch. Remy (Dream/Fantasy) and Enchanté (Wish/Treasure/Destiny) are $145 per person for dinner. Check your individual ship and sailing for additional adult dining offerings. An 18% service charge is added automatically, and many guests choose to tip beyond that.
For many adults, one elevated meal during the trip is a highlight, especially on celebration sailings or if you want a quieter, more intimate evening. I always recommend trying to include one experience for adults, if possible. Reservations can be competitive, so if it matters to you, plan early. And if you're a Platinum or Pearl Castaway Club member, your complimentary Palo dinner is already covered.
The "it's a small world" nursery is $10 per hour for the first child, with a discount for additional siblings. Reservations are required and space is limited.
No. It's a planning range. Your actual onboard costs depend on your specific itinerary, what you choose to book, and pricing at the time you sail. Use it to plan with confidence, not as a guarantee.
