KEY TAKEAWAYS
The Disney Wish sails Europe for the first time May through September 2027, from Barcelona, Rome (Civitavecchia) and Southampton.
Concierge went first. On the Norwegian Fjords it was gone within the first week of booking, and by fall it was gone on all but one Europe sailing of a week or longer.
Greek Isles verandahs sold out by late summer, nine to ten months before sailing.
Summer 2028 hasn't been announced. Pick your itinerary, a backup sailing and your stateroom category before it is.
Book on the day your Castaway Club tier opens, and keep checking if your category shows unavailable. Staterooms come back as holds expire.
IN AUGUST 2011, I sailed seven nights in the Mediterranean on the Disney Magic, round trip from Barcelona, with port adventures in Pisa, Rome and Pompeii. I'd book that week again tomorrow.
I've sailed Disney Cruise Line more than ten times since 2004, across seven ships, including the Disney Wish. The Wish takes over Europe in summer 2027, its first season there, and I watched those sailings sell from the day they opened. What happened changed how I'd plan a Disney cruise in Europe.
Who this guide is for: travelers planning a Disney Cruise Line sailing in Europe, whether that's a 2027 sailing that's still open or the summer 2028 season once Disney announces it.
Quick answer: Choose your itinerary and stateroom category before the sailings go on sale, then book on the day your Castaway Club tier opens. On the Wish's first Europe season, concierge on the most popular sailings was gone within the first week, and verandah fares on the Norwegian Fjords climbed about 40% from where they opened.

How the Disney Wish's first Europe season sold
Disney Cruise Line announced the Wish's summer 2027 season on February 10, 2026. Mediterranean and Greek Isles sailings leave from Barcelona and Civitavecchia, Rome's cruise port. Then the ship moves to Southampton for the Norwegian Fjords, the British Isles and a run of shorter sailings. It's the first time a Wish-class ship has sailed Europe.
Castaway Club members booked first, one tier a day starting with Pearl, and the general public got in about a week later. Over the next eight months, I watched the season sell, and four things stood out:
HOW THE 2027 SEASON SOLD
Concierge went first. On both Norwegian Fjords sailings and the Adriatic sailing, concierge was gone within the first week of booking. On the eastbound transatlantic, it sold out during Castaway Club early booking, before the public had a turn.
Verandah fares climbed. Fjords verandahs rose about 40% from their opening fares. Week-long Mediterranean sailings from Barcelona rose by about a quarter to a third.
The Greek Isles sold through. Verandahs on the 8- and 10-night Greek Isles sailings were sold out by late summer, nine to ten months before departure.
By fall, concierge was gone on all but one Europe sailing of a week or longer.
1 of 11 week-long sailings with concierge left
Disney Wish Europe sailings of 7 nights or more, October 2026. A year earlier, at the same point before sailing, about half of the Disney Dream's week-long Europe sailings still had concierge open.
My read: the ship pulled as much demand as the destinations. Until 2027, the Wish had sailed short Bahamas cruises from Florida, and plenty of travelers who loved it on a long weekend wanted a full week of it somewhere new. When summer 2028 goes on sale, I'd expect the same pressure on whatever Europe sailings Disney Cruise Line announces, and I'd plan around it.

Is a Disney cruise in Europe worth it?
For the right traveler, yes. My week on the Magic went Barcelona, Villefranche, La Spezia, Civitavecchia, Naples, a day at sea, then Palma de Mallorca. That's five ports in seven nights. We booked Disney's port adventures in most of them: Pisa, the Vatican, Monaco, the Colosseum and Roman Forum, Pompeii with a wine lunch afterward, and a winery on Mallorca.
What sold me was unpacking once. Seeing Rome, Pompeii and Pisa in one week on land means hotel changes and train days in between. The ship did the moving, and every evening we came back to the same stateroom with dinner already planned. That sailing is also when I moved up to a verandah, after two inside staterooms, to take in the coastline between ports.
The trade-off is pace. Port days in Europe run long. If your idea of Italy is two slow days in Florence, a cruise will feel like a sampler. If you want to see a lot of Europe with someone else handling the logistics between cities, a Disney cruise does that well.
It suits Disney adults and couples who already love the Disney Cruise Line service, families who want the kids' clubs and a familiar stateroom to come back to after a big port day, and multigenerational groups, where grandparents get the sights without packing a suitcase every other day.

Which Europe sailing fits your trip
The 2027 season covers more ground than any one week can. This is how I'd match the sailing to the trip, using the 2027 lineup.
MATCH THE SAILING TO THE TRIP
Mediterranean, 7 nights from Barcelona. Naples for Pompeii, Civitavecchia for Rome, Livorno for Florence and Pisa, plus Palma de Mallorca or Genoa depending on the date. It's the closest to my 2011 week and the one I'd point to for a first cruise in Europe. These sold at a steady pace and still had verandahs this fall.
Greek Isles, 8 to 10 nights from Rome or Barcelona. Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes, Chania and Athens, depending on the sailing, and some run one-way between Rome and Barcelona. Best when Greece is the point of the trip. The 8- and 10-night sailings sold out first among the Mediterranean sailings.
Adriatic and Greece, 8 nights from Rome. Corfu, Trieste for Venice, Zadar and Dubrovnik. Zadar and Trieste are new ports for Disney Cruise Line. A good fit for travelers who've already done Rome and Barcelona.
Norwegian Fjords, 7 nights from Southampton. Two sailings, both in late July, with ports like Bergen, Alesund, Olden and Hellesylt. You book this one for the scenery, and it's where a verandah earns its keep, as I explain in oceanview vs verandah on a Disney cruise. I haven't sailed the Fjords yet. It's near the top of my own list.
British Isles and Northern Europe, 7 nights from Southampton. September sailings to Scotland, Liverpool and Belfast, or to Amsterdam, Copenhagen and the coasts of Norway and Denmark. For travelers who want cities and history over beaches.
Short sailings from Southampton, 3 to 5 nights. Belgium, the Netherlands and northern Spain in August. These work as an add-on to time in London, and they had the most room left this fall.
Transatlantic crossings. The Wish crosses from Port Canaveral to Barcelona in April and leaves Southampton for New York in September, with two days in Iceland on the way. I cover that one in every Disney Wish New York sailing. For travelers who like days at sea.
The length matters as much as the region. If you're deciding between a short sailing and a full week, my Disney cruise length guide walks through it.

Concierge in Europe goes first
If concierge is part of the plan, make that call before booking day. Expect it to run about double a verandah on the same sailing.
How much you'd use it depends on the itinerary. A Mediterranean week has five or six ports in seven nights, so you'll spend less time in the concierge lounge and on the sundeck. The Fjords have scenic cruising days, and a transatlantic has a week or more at sea, which is when those spaces get used.

How to be ready when summer 2028 goes on sale
Disney Cruise Line hasn't announced summer 2028 yet. The 2027 season was announced in February 2026, and Castaway Club booking opened within the week. If 2028 follows a similar timeline, you'll have days between the announcement and your booking day, so do the deciding now.
BEFORE BOOKING DAY
1. Pick the type of trip. Mediterranean, Greece, Fjords or Northern Europe. The section above is the shortcut.
2. Choose a first and second sailing. If your first choice fills in your category, you move to the next one instead of starting over.
3. Decide your stateroom category, plus a fallback. Concierge or verandah, and what you'd take if it's gone.
4. Settle who's in each stateroom. Have names and birth dates for everyone. If you're booking more than one room, my guide to staterooms for groups of 6 or more covers the setup.
5. Know your booking day. Your Castaway Club tier sets it. First-time cruisers book with the general public.
6. Have the deposit ready. Disney Cruise Line takes a deposit when you book, so check the terms for your sailing.
7. Plan for flights. Some Europe sailings start and end in different cities, so price those flights before you commit.
MY BOOKING STRATEGY
If the category I want shows unavailable on booking day, I don't write the sailing off. On the Wish's 2027 season, concierge on a couple of sailings came back about a week after general booking opened. My guess is expiring holds. I keep checking a sailing after the first rush.
This is the part of planning I help with most: knowing when your day opens, what to have decided, and what to watch for after.

Before and after the cruise: Barcelona, Rome and Southampton
Fly in at least a day early. I learned that in Barcelona. Delta lost my bag, the W Barcelona upgraded our room, and I rush-bought an outfit and toiletries before boarding. I bought clothes in port for the next five days and did laundry in the ship's laundry room until the bag reached me in Naples. With a day's cushion, a lost bag is an inconvenience. Without one, a delayed flight can cost you the first day of your cruise.
Several of the 2027 sailings are one-way, so you may be planning two cities. Civitavecchia sits about 50 miles from Rome, an hour or more by train or car, and Southampton is about 80 miles from London. Plan the transfer along with the hotel.
As a Fora advisor, I book the hotels too, so the nights before and after can be planned with the sailing. Before you compare sailings, put the flights and extra hotel nights into the Disney cruise true cost calculator. A one-way week adds a city to the budget.
What's still open for summer 2027
As of October 2026. Availability changes daily, so treat this as a starting point.
Greek Isles, 8 and 10 nights: verandahs sold out. The 9-night sailing from Barcelona to Rome, with Athens and Mykonos, still had verandahs.
Mediterranean, 7 nights from Barcelona: verandahs open, concierge gone.
Adriatic and Greece: verandahs open, and concierge was available again in October.
Norwegian Fjords: verandahs have come and gone this fall, concierge gone.
Short Southampton sailings: the most room left, concierge included.
If one of these is your trip, I wouldn't wait for a better price. This season, fares climbed as the ship filled.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Disney Cruise Line ship sails Europe in 2027?
The Disney Wish, for its first Europe season, May through September 2027. It sails from Barcelona, Civitavecchia (Rome) and Southampton. The Disney Dream sailed Disney Cruise Line's Europe season in 2026.
When will Disney Cruise Line announce 2028 Europe sailings?
It hasn't as of October 2026. Disney Cruise Line announced the summer 2027 season on February 10, 2026, and Castaway Club members could book within a week. I'll update this guide when 2028 is announced.
Is there a Disney Wish transatlantic in 2027?
Yes, two. A 13-night eastbound crossing leaves Port Canaveral on April 25, 2027, for Barcelona, with stops in Madeira, Gibraltar and Cartagena. A 12-night westbound crossing leaves Southampton on September 17, 2027, for New York, with two days in Reykjavik.
Does “sold out” mean a Disney cruise stateroom is gone for good?
Not always. Staterooms come back as holds expire and plans change. On the Wish's 2027 Europe season, some concierge staterooms reappeared about a week after general booking opened, so keep checking or have your advisor watch the sailing.
How much does a Disney cruise to Europe cost?
For two adults in a verandah, a week on the Wish's 2027 Europe sailings runs about $7,000 to $12,000 as of fall 2026, before flights, hotels and port adventures. Concierge runs about double that. The Norwegian Fjords sit at the top of the range.
