KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • The Disney Believe is the fourth Wish-class ship. It keeps the Wish's design and returning favorites like 1923, Worlds of Marvel, Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté.

  • New on the Believe: the first stage version of Encanto, Oaken's Table (a new Frozen dinner show), a Moana Grand Hall and a Tower Suite themed to Magic Kingdom lands.

  • The Wish sails 3 and 4 nights from Port Canaveral. The Believe sails 4 and 5 nights from Fort Lauderdale, starting December 18, 2027.

  • For 2028 verandahs, the two ships land within about $75 a night of each other. The maiden voyage is the exception.

I'VE SAILED THE DISNEY WISH TWICE, both three-night sailings to Nassau and Castaway Cay, in a family verandah each time. I've also sailed the two Wish-class ships that came after it, the Disney Treasure and the Disney Destiny, both in their first seasons. So when Disney Cruise Line shared the Disney Believe's full details on October 7, 2026, and fans started calling it "Wish 2.0," I agreed. I just don't think that's a bad thing.

This guide covers what the Believe borrows, what's new on it, and the difference I'd weigh first: where each ship sails from and for how long. I've already booked several clients on the Believe, so these are the same questions I've been working through with them.

Quick answer: The Believe is the Wish's sister ship, with the same ship hull design, the same core restaurants and a mix of venues from all three earlier Wish-class ships. Book the Wish for 3- and 4-night sailings from Port Canaveral, an easy pairing with Walt Disney World. Book the Believe for 4- and 5-night sailings from Fort Lauderdale starting December 18, 2027, and for its new shows.

The short answer: same ship design, different trip

Choose the Disney Wish if you want

  • 3- or 4-night Bahamas sailings from Port Canaveral, about an hour from Walt Disney World

  • To sail before December 2027, or in Europe or New York in 2027

  • Arendelle, the Little Mermaid stage show and the Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge

  • A ship with four years of guest feedback behind it

Choose the Disney Believe if you want

  • 4- or 5-night sailings from Fort Lauderdale, including a 5-night run to Cozumel

  • The first stage version of Encanto

  • Oaken's Table, a new Frozen dinner show

  • The energy of a ship's first season

Both ships share the Wish-class layout. On a short sailing, the differences you'll feel night to night come down to one dinner show, one headline stage show and the lounges you end up in.

Yes, it's Wish 2.0, and that isn't a bad thing

The Wish was an instant hit when it launched in 2022, and it's been the workhorse of Disney Cruise Line's 3- and 4-night sailings from Port Canaveral. Its theming reads as classic Disney with a fairytale angle: Cinderella in the Grand Hall and princess stories throughout.

The class changed a lot after that. The Treasure was the first of these ships that felt storytelling-first to me. Its Aladdin Grand Hall is where I first saw that each Wish-class ship could have its own feel, and it introduced the Haunted Mansion Parlor. The Destiny kept that energy and went deeper, with encounters like Cruella and Maleficent woven into the evenings.

You can trace the change in one room. The family dinner show went from Arendelle on the Wish to Plaza de Coco on the Treasure to Pride Lands on the Destiny, and the format evolved with each ship.

The Believe takes what's worked and brings it back:

  • 1923 and Worlds of Marvel, on every Wish-class ship

  • Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté, plus The Rose lounge

  • Disney Seas the Adventure, the stage show all four ships share

  • The Haunted Mansion Parlor, now on its third ship, with a new drinks menu

  • Inside Out: Joyful Sweets from the Wish, redone with Inside Out 2

  • Frozen, again, with an all-new dinner show

Frozen remains a family favorite, and the dinner-show room has come a long way since Arendelle. Trying Frozen again in that newer format makes sense to me.

“The Believe takes what's worked and brings it back.

Most people don't take several Disney cruises a year. For a family whose last sailing was years ago, "Wish 2.0" describes a ship that's still in high demand, and the Wish is popular for a reason. On my first Wish sailing, three nights wasn't enough to get to everything. I wrote about that in my 3-night vs 4-night Disney cruise comparison. If you loved the Wish, the Believe should feel familiar from the first evening.

What's actually new on the Believe

Disney Cruise Line has announced enough to see where the Believe goes its own way.

On stage: the world's first stage adaptation of Encanto is the Believe's headliner, exclusive to this ship. Tangled: The Musical, which has played on the Disney Magic since 2015, joins the lineup with a reimagined set and special effects. Tangled is one of my favorite Disney Cruise Line stage adaptations, so I'm glad to see it on a second ship, with a refresh nonetheless.

At dinner: Oaken's Table: A Frozen Family Feast tells a new chapter of the Frozen story. Arendelle on the Wish is Anna and Kristoff's engagement party; Oaken's Table seats you with Oaken and his cousins in a Scandinavian Summerhaus courtyard, with reimagined Frozen songs and visits from Anna and Kristoff.

Around the ship: a Moana Grand Hall, with Moana, Pua and Heihei, a constellation ceiling, and the heart of Te Fiti hidden in the chandelier. New lounges include Sea Notes (a piano bar inspired by Ariel's grotto from The Little Mermaid), Wishing Well (Snow White), Skygazers (an observatory-themed pub with sports) and Gazelle (Zootopia), which hosts family entertainment by day and adults-only entertainment at night.

In the rooms: about 70% of staterooms have a verandah, and there are more than 450 connecting doors, useful if you're planning for a group across several staterooms. Concierge is themed to Neverland. The two royal suites are the Royal Reef Suite (The Little Mermaid) and the Royal Rose Suite (Beauty and the Beast). The Believe Tower Suite, two stories in the forward funnel, sleeps eight and themes each room to a different Magic Kingdom land.

DISNEY WISH

  • Grand Hall: Cinderella

  • Family dinner show: Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure

  • Other rotational dining: 1923, Worlds of Marvel

  • Headline stage show: The Little Mermaid

  • Second stage show: Aladdin

  • Piano lounge: Nightingale's

  • Two-sided hub: Luna

  • Royal suites: Princess Aurora and Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty)

  • Tower Suite theme: Moana

DISNEY BELIEVE

  • Grand Hall: Moana, Pua and Heihei

  • Family dinner show: Oaken's Table: A Frozen Family Feast

  • Other rotational dining: 1923, Worlds of Marvel

  • Headline stage show: Encanto

  • Second stage show: Tangled: The Musical

  • Piano lounge: Sea Notes

  • Two-sided hub: Gazelle

  • Royal suites: Royal Reef and Royal Rose

  • Tower Suite theme: Magic Kingdom lands

One detail I like: two stories change places. Moana, the theme of the Wish's Tower Suite, takes over the Believe's Grand Hall. The Little Mermaid, a stage show on the Wish, becomes the Believe's piano bar and one of its royal suites. For the lounges that make each Wish-class ship feel different after dark, I go ship by ship in my guide to the best Disney cruise ship for adults.

The bigger difference: where they sail and for how long

This is where I'd start with any traveler choosing between these two. The ships are sisters. The trips are different. If your dates don't fit either one, my Disney cruise ship shortlist shows which of the nine ships sail your month, port and length.

The Wish sails 3 and 4 nights from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas, with one long break. It leaves Port Canaveral on April 25, 2027 for its first Europe season, sails from New York in the fall, then sails two cruises from San Juan. Its 3- and 4-night sailings from Port Canaveral pick back up on November 16, 2027 and run through the end of the published schedule in May 2028.

Port Canaveral is about an hour from Walt Disney World, which makes the Wish the easier pairing if you want park days on the same trip. My guide to combining a Disney cruise with Walt Disney World covers how I'd split the days.

The Believe sails 4 and 5 nights from Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades). I've sailed from Fort Lauderdale twice and like it as a port, with the airport close by. Most of the first season runs on a repeating rotation:

THE BELIEVE'S FIRST-SEASON ROTATION

Monday, 5 nights: Castaway Cay, Lookout Cay and Nassau

Saturday, 5 nights: Cozumel and Castaway Cay

Thursday, 4 nights: Lookout Cay and Nassau, with no Castaway Cay (except December 23, 2027 and March 30, 2028, which do stop there)

If Castaway Cay is the stop your family is counting on, skip the Thursday sailings. My Castaway Cay vs Lookout Cay comparison helps if you're deciding which island matters more.

The Believe's 5-night sailings are the main thing the Wish doesn't offer from Florida. That fifth night means more time on board, on a ship that takes time to explore.

What they cost per night

The two ships price closer together than the new-ship label suggests. In the pricing analysis I ran in fall 2026, I compared January through April 2028, the Believe's first full winter, using median fares for 2 adults as of late October 2026:

$881 to $955 verandah, per night, both ships

Median verandah fares for 2 adults on January to April 2028 sailings, from the pricing analysis I ran in fall 2026 (late October).

DISNEY WISH

  • 3 nights: verandah $915 a night ($2,746 total), concierge $1,817 a night

  • 4 nights: verandah $955 a night ($3,822 total), concierge $2,052 a night

DISNEY BELIEVE

  • 4 nights: verandah $948 a night ($3,791 total), concierge $2,048 a night

  • 5 nights: verandah $881 a night ($4,404 total), concierge $1,997 a night

For verandahs, the newer ship isn't the more expensive one. A 5-night Believe verandah came in about $74 a night below a 4-night Wish verandah, and your total moves with the number of nights. Concierge is where the Believe has moved: its median concierge fare rose 5% to 10% over the second half of October 2026, while the Wish's held.

The bigger exception is the maiden voyage. The Believe's December 18, 2027 sailing listed about $3,000 more per stateroom than the same itinerary in January. During the week Castaway Club members could book, its verandah fare rose from $7,134 to $8,144 and inside staterooms sold out. A week after general booking opened, inside, oceanview and verandah all showed sold out, and the only concierge option left was a $66,034 suite. On a new ship's first sailings, I'd have your dates and stateroom category settled before your booking day.

If you're really choosing between the Believe and the Destiny

The Believe's sailings look more like the Destiny's than the Wish's. The Destiny sails mostly 4- and 5-night trips from Fort Lauderdale until November 24, 2027, then moves to Port Canaveral on November 30. When the Believe's fares came out, its verandahs landed a median 1.8% above the Destiny's same-week sailings.

I sailed the Destiny in its first season out of Fort Lauderdale. It has the Treasure's storytelling energy on a shorter sailing, and Hercules is a standout show. For the 2027–28 season, the Believe is the only Wish-class ship sailing from Fort Lauderdale. I go through the Destiny venue by venue in my Disney Destiny vs Disney Dream guide, and compare all four Wish-class ships in my four-ship comparison.

WHY TRAVELERS WORK WITH ME

We weren't sure if a Disney Cruise would be our thing, but Gabe suggested we try a weekend on the Disney Wish, and we're so glad we did. He kept us on top of all the key planning deadlines.

Client review

Book the Believe, or sail the Wish first?

The Believe's first season runs from December 2027 through May 2028. When Disney Cruise Line releases more of its sailings, Castaway Club members typically get the first chance to book, by tier, before everyone else. This is how I sort the choice with clients.

The Believe's first season fits you if:

  • Being on a new ship early is part of the fun for you. I've sailed two Wish-class ships in their first seasons and enjoyed the energy on both.

  • You're flying into South Florida, or you live there.

  • You want 5 nights, or Encanto is the draw.

A Wish sailing fits you if:

  • You want to sail before December 2027.

  • Walt Disney World is part of the trip.

  • It's your first Disney cruise and you'd like a 3-night sailing to see whether it suits you. I've suggested exactly that to clients, and it worked.

→ Either way, the date that shapes your planning comes after you book: when your window opens for dining and activities. My Disney cruise booking window calculator shows yours by sail date and Castaway Club level.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Disney Believe the same as the Disney Wish?

Same ship hull design, different ship. The Believe is the fourth Wish-class ship, with new venues like Oaken's Table and an Encanto stage show, and it sails from Fort Lauderdale instead of Port Canaveral.

Is the Disney Believe a Wish-class ship?

Yes. It follows the Disney Wish (2022), Disney Treasure (2024) and Disney Destiny (2025) as the fourth Wish-class ship.

Does the Disney Believe have Arendelle?

No. Arendelle stays on the Wish. The Believe has its own Frozen dinner show, Oaken's Table: A Frozen Family Feast, with a new storyline built around Oaken's family.

What's the new stage show on the Disney Believe?

Encanto, the first stage adaptation of the film. It's exclusive to the Believe.

Where does the Disney Believe sail from?

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades), to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean. The maiden voyage departs December 18, 2027.

Is the Disney Believe more expensive than the Disney Wish?

Not per night on regular sailings. In my fall 2026 pricing analysis, 2028 verandah fares on the two ships landed within about $75 a night of each other. The maiden voyage is the exception.

When can I book the Disney Believe?

The first season, December 2027 through May 2028, is on sale. When Disney Cruise Line releases more Believe sailings, Castaway Club members typically get an early booking window by tier before general booking opens.

Does the Disney Believe go to Castaway Cay?

Most sailings do. The Thursday 4-night sailings visit Lookout Cay and Nassau instead, except December 23, 2027 and March 30, 2028.
