Hi, I’m Gabe: travel advisor and Platinum Castaway Club guest. I’ve sailed Disney Cruise Line more than ten times, and I help travelers plan the “quiet costs” that don’t show up in the headline fare so nothing feels like a surprise once you’re onboard.
Use this page to do the math fast. Then, decide how you want to handle payment (prepaid vs onboard). It’s built for travelers who want a clean number they can plan around: total gratuities for your party, per-guest totals, and a simple breakdown by crew role.
Inputs you’ll need
Number of nights
Number of guests in your stateroom
Whether you’re sailing Concierge (recommended automatic gratuities are higher)
What you’ll get
Total recommended automatic gratuities for your party
Per-guest total
A breakdown by role (dining team + stateroom host; Concierge team if selected)
If you’re looking for the full “how tipping works” explainer - what’s included, when you might add extra, and what isn’t part of automatic gratuities - use my full guide here:

I share planning tactics that make trips smoother: what’s worth booking, what’s not, and the common mistakes I see travelers make on cruises and beyond.
Disney Cruise Line has recommended automatic gratuities that are charged per person, per night. This calculator uses those recommended amounts and turns them into a clear total for your sailing.
It includes the standard team that supports you daily:
Your dining room server
Assistant server
Head server
Your stateroom host
If you select Concierge, the calculator reflects the higher recommended amount that also accounts for the Concierge service team.
This tool focuses on the automatic gratuities most travelers see on their onboard account. It does not estimate optional or situational items like:
Gratuities on drinks and specialty coffee
Spa service charges
Port Adventure guides
Private drivers or third-party tours
Room service tips
That’s intentional. You can keep those separate based on your own habits.
As of the most recent Disney-published guidance:
Standard staterooms: $16.00 per person, per night
Concierge staterooms/suites: $27.25 per person, per night
If Disney changes the rates, this page should be updated to match.
The core calculation is simple:
Total automatic gratuities = (Guests) × (Nights) × (Rate)
Example:
2 guests × 4 nights × $16.00 = $128.00
From there, the calculator splits the total into the typical Disney-recommended role breakdown you’ll see referenced across DCL resources and in onboard paperwork.
Nights are counted as the number of nights in your sailing (not hours onboard).
Results are shown to two decimals.
If someone is in your stateroom as a guest, they are counted in the guest total you enter.
There are two common ways travelers handle automatic gratuities on Disney Cruise Line:
Many travelers like prepaid gratuities because it makes the onboard account feel cleaner. You’ll still see the line item, but it’s handled ahead of time.
If you don’t prepay, the automatic gratuities are charged to your onboard account and settled near the end of the sailing.
You can. Some travelers add more for exceptional service; others adjust for special circumstances. On Disney Cruise Line, changes to automatic gratuities are typically handled onboard through Guest Services. If you think you’ll want to do that, treat the calculator’s result as your baseline.
These are here so you can eyeball whether your result looks right.
4-night, 2 guests, standard stateroom
2 × 4 × $16.00 = $128.00 total
7-night, 4 guests, standard stateroom
4 × 7 × $16.00 = $448.00 total
3-night, 2 guests, Concierge
2 × 3 × $27.25 = $163.50 total
If you booked within the last 30 days and haven’t paid in full, Disney often allows you to transfer your booking to a travel advisor. That means you may be able to keep your reservation exactly as-is… and add benefits!
When you transfer to me, you can get:
(when eligible)
clear reminders on booking windows + check-in dates
a simple plan for what to prioritize at midnight

Yes. Disney uses recommended automatic gratuities that are charged per person, per night for your onboard service team. This calculator gives you the estimated total based on those recommendations.
The automatic amount is intended for your dining team (server, assistant server, head server) and your stateroom host. Concierge staterooms use a higher recommended amount that also accounts for the Concierge service team.
If they’re a guest in the stateroom, include them in your guest count for the calculator. Many families are surprised by this, so it’s worth planning for it upfront.
Per person, per night. If you have two staterooms, run the calculator twice: once for each stateroom’s guest count and (if applicable) Concierge status.
Often yes. The easiest way to confirm is to look at your booking options or ask your travel advisor to check your reservation type and what’s available to add ahead of time.
Absolutely. Many travelers do, especially for stateroom hosts or dining teams who go above and beyond. The calculator is meant to give you the baseline so you can plan; adding extra is a personal call.
No. Many specialty dining experiences have their own service charge or tipping norms depending on venue and how charges are presented onboard. If you want the full “what’s included vs what’s separate” breakdown, is the better fit.
Concierge service includes additional service touchpoints and staff support, and Disney’s recommended automatic gratuity amount reflects that.
If you’re a “keep it simple” traveler, plan for the automatic gratuities (this calculator), plus a small buffer if you like handing something extra to a standout crew member or for a porter on embarkation day. If you want the deeper rundown, my walks through common situations.
This calculator is built for speed and clarity. If you want the bigger picture - what automatic gratuities cover, what they don’t, and common “do I tip for this?” questions - read the full guide here:
