The Disney Wish at Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas

When you book your Disney Cruise Line vacation through me, you may qualify for onboard credits of up to $1,000 per stateroom, extra spending power you can use once you’re on board.

As a Platinum Castaway Club member who’s sailed more than ten Disney cruises across the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Mediterranean, I’ve seen firsthand how onboard credits add an effortless layer of value. They turn “extras” like spa treatments or Palo brunch into part of the fun, without costing you anything additional.

What Onboard Credit Actually Is

Onboard credit is a Disney Cruise Line account credit that’s applied shortly before your sailing. It’s stored electronically and automatically linked to your stateroom folio, and you’ll see it show up in the Disney Cruise Line app once you connect to ship Wi-Fi (under your stateroom charges).

You can use it for nearly any purchase charged to your shipboard account, including:

  • Dining at Palo or Enchanté

  • Beverages, including wine, cocktails, and specialty coffees

  • Shore excursions arranged through Disney

  • Spa treatments on board or at Castaway Cay

  • Wi-Fi packages

  • Souvenirs, photographs, and gratuities

What can’t you use onboard credit for?

Just to name a few:

  • Purchases you make while in port

  • Excursions that aren’t arranged through Disney

  • Paying for a future cruise

Unused onboard credit is not redeemable for a refund, future credit, or cash, and any remaining balance expires at the end of your sailing.

How Much You Could Receive

The amount of onboard credit varies based on your cruise fare and type of booking (whether it’s a brand-new reservation, a transfer of an existing booking, or a future cruise booked while you’re on board).

Frequently Asked Questions About Disney Cruise Line Onboard Credit

Below are some of the most common questions travelers ask about Disney Cruise Line onboard credit.

When will my onboard credit show up?

Onboard credit is usually applied a few days before your sailing and becomes visible by embarkation day. You’ll see it reflected in your stateroom folio or in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once you’re onboard.

Is onboard credit per person or per stateroom?

Onboard credit is issued per reservation or stateroom, not per guest. If you have multiple staterooms under one booking party, each qualifying reservation receives its own credit.

Can I use onboard credit for drinks, spa services, or Wi-Fi?

Yes! Onboard credit can be applied to almost any valid charge that hits your stateroom folio, including Disney-arranged shore excursions, spa treatments (on board or at Castaway Cay), gratuities, beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), specialty dining like Palo or Enchanté, Wi-Fi packages, souvenirs, and photographs. It can’t be used for non-Disney excursions or purchases made while in port.

How is the onboard credit amount calculated?

Your onboard credit is based on the commissionable portion of your Disney Cruise Line fare, the same amount Disney uses to calculate travel advisor commissions. Taxes, port fees, insurance, airfare, hotel stays, and similar non-commissionable items aren’t included in that calculation.

Can I combine this onboard credit with other Disney promotions or discounts?

In most cases, yes. Onboard credits are typically combinable with official Disney Cruise Line promotions or Castaway Club discounts. However, onboard credits from multiple travel agencies or overlapping offers can’t be combined on the same reservation.

What happens if I cancel my cruise?

If you cancel before sailing, any onboard credit linked to that reservation is voided. Credits are only active once you sail and can’t be transferred to another booking.

When does onboard credit expire?

Any unused balance expires at the end of your cruise and isn’t redeemable for cash, refund, or future credit.

A Few Things to Know (Terms & Conditions)

  • Onboard credits are applied shortly before your sailing and will appear on your stateroom folio once you’re onboard.

  • Unused onboard credit is not redeemable for a refund, future credit, or cash, and any remaining balance expires at the end of your cruise.

  • Credit amounts and eligibility vary based on cruise fare, booking type (new booking, transfer, or onboard booking), and applicable promotions.

  • One onboard credit is provided per reservation/stateroom and cannot be combined across multiple reservations.

  • Offer valid on qualifying new Disney Cruise Line sailings booked now through March 31, 2026, with sail dates departing by March 31, 2027.

  • Disney Cruise Line designates a small portion of each fare as non-commissionable, typically between $20 and $30 per person, per night, depending on the sailing length. Your onboard credit is based only on the remaining commissionable fare, the same amount Disney Cruise Line uses to calculate advisor commissions.

  • Disney Cruise Line only allows for booking transfers within 30 days of the origination of the booking. This includes future cruise placeholders booked while onboard,

  • If you cancel before sailing, any onboard credit linked to that reservation is voided. Credits are only active once you sail and can’t be transferred to another booking.

  • If you modify your booking and the cruise fare changes, the onboard credit amount will also be reassessed.

  • Onboard credit can be used for most valid shipboard charges, including Disney-organized shore excursions, spa treatments, gratuities, beverages, souvenirs, photographs and Wi-Fi. It cannot be used for non-Disney arranged excursions, or purchases made while in port.

  • Offer subject to change or withdrawal at any time and may be modified or terminated without notice. Disney Cruise Line and EnchantAway are not responsible for errors or omissions.
